How A Medical Diagnosis Impacts A Social Security Disability Claim
Jan. 2, 2024
Oftentimes the Disabled Individual will receive an unfortunate diagnosis that impacts their ability to return to work due to extensive treatment, surgery, multiple hospitalizations and rehabilitation. The Social Security Administration publishes a table that contains certain medical conditions where if the diagnostic criteria is met and documented in the medical records, the Disabled Individual should be awarded benefits. However, if the criteria is not documented for these impairments, then the diagnosis alone does not automatically mean that benefits will be awarded.
As in all claims for SSA disability benefits, seeking medical treatment for the diagnosis and symptoms that prevent the Disabled Individual from working is a major key to obtaining disability benefits.
