Where Will the Hearing be Scheduled?
Oct. 6, 2020
When a hearing for Social Security Disability benefits is scheduled by the Social Security Administration, the disabled individual will receive a Notice of Hearing which will provide the date, time and hearing for the hearing.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hearings are now primarily scheduled to be conducted by telephone if the disabled individual consents to this method. However, SSA also offers a video method that can allow for the hearing to be conducted by Microsoft Teams video conferencing as well. These hearing options provides an opportunity for disabled individuals who wish to remain at home or have mobility and/or transportation issues the ability to attend a hearing. The main requirement for a telephone or video conference hearing is that the disabled individual must be in a quiet, and private location to proceed with the hearing.
If the disabled individual would like an in-person hearing, then SSA will grant that request as well.
