Where Will the Hearing be Scheduled?
Oct. 6, 2020
When a hearing for Social Security Disability benefits is scheduled by the Social Security Administration, the disabled individual will receive a Notice Of Hearing which will provide the date, time and hearing for the hearing.
As of March 2020, the Social Security Administration has closed the hearing offices to the public throughout the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hearings that are currently being scheduled are conducted by telephone if the individual consents to this method. If the disabled individual would like a different method of attending a hearing, then a postponement will more than likely be granted until the hearing offices can accommodate a different method.
Once the Social Security Administration is able to reopen the hearing offices for in-person hearings, then a Social Security Disability hearing may be scheduled in one of the following locations:
Indiana Locations:
Evansville, Indiana; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Valparaiso, Indiana.
Texas Locations:
Dallas (North), Texas; Dallas (Downtown), Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston (Aldine), Texas; Houston (Bissonnet), Texas; Harlingen, (Rio Grande), Texas; and San Antonio, Texas.
If the disabled individual lives outside of the city where the hearing office is located, then a hearing may be scheduled in a remote hearing location such as a local Social Security Administration office.
Prior to the pandemic, the Social Security Administration would also offer some hearings that were conducted by video conferencing; however, that method required the disabled individual and their attorney representative to appear at a secured hearing location. Since those offices are now closed to the public, video conferencing is not available to the public at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
An experienced disability attorney representing you in your claim for Social Security Disability benefits can help in determining the best method of presenting your case before a Social Security Administrative Law Judge.
